We have split the guided demos & interpretation of Performance metrics into 2 separate parts for simple & easy understanding.
In Part 1, we will discuss the “Overview” tab. First we walk through the “Step by step instructions” followed by “analyzing & interpreting the data”
Step by step instruction
Log in to your account & search your business in "Google Search Tab"
Click on "Performance" tab
Select the "Time Period" for which you want to check the Performance metrics.
The "overview" tab displays "Business Interactions" for a 6 month time period.
Now when you "scroll down" same "Overview" tab displays "People who viewed your profile" & "Searches"
Moving ahead when you look closely on "Searches" box, you will get the "See more" button. Click on it.
The "Searches breakdown" shows the "number of searches" against each Keyword in descending order.
When you "scroll down" further you will reach the end of the list.
Now, Let's Understand & Interpret this "Overview" Data of the "Performance Metrics" in detail in simplest manner.
Analyzing & Interpreting the data
The Overview tab shows 3 main parameters.
1) Business Profile Interactions
Analyzing: This is the cumulative count of Calls, Chat clicks, Bookings, Directions & Website Clicks. We will go through these parameters in Part 2 of our Performance metrics. For now we will just focus on what it means on a month on month basis from May to October.
Analyzing the trend first, the Line graph shows the number of interactions from May to October (Mid).

May 2025: ~750 interactions
June 2025: ~600 interactions
July 2025: ~550 interactions
August 2025: ~500 interactions
September 2025: ~1100 interactions
October 2025: ~450 interactions (Note: While interpreting these results we were in mid of October, so month is not yet complete & the data is partial).
Interpreting: September month saw the peak of approx 1100 interactions, this is the most important insight from the graph. Investigate what worked out in this month by drilling down on the following possibilities.
Google Posts: Did you run any promotions or offers in this month that grabbed customer’s attention?
Reviews: Did your profile see more number of reviews this month & focus on how you got the reviews & whether you have replied to the reviews?
New Photos or Videos: Any new photos or videos that got the views
Seasonality: Did the month of September best work for your business.
Use this trend to proactively engage with your customers using the Google Business Profile tools like Q&A, Reply to reviews, Create more posts (Promotions, Offers & Events), Adding whats app URL to Profile & Adding Social Media Platforms.
2) People who viewed your profile
This is the most simple as it looks, the number indicates the number of people who interacted with your business using Google Search & Google maps on Desktop & mobile devices. The Data is displayed in the descending order. For Ex. in this image 51% people reached your business via “Google Search” using “Mobile” device.

3) Searches that showed your business profile
The Search parameter is the data as its name suggests, it shows the number of times your profile has appeared in the google search results & displays the specific keywords which resulted in the search. You can use this data to optimize & create content around these keywords.
